5 things you might have missed in the aftermath of Little India riot

The ephemeral nature of events means soon people will forget.

Belmont Lay| December 09, 06:50 AM

The Little India riot last night started and ended with the kind of speed and efficiency Singapore has always been known for.

9.23pm: Riot breaks out.

1am: Police clears the place of rioters and made arrests.

2am: The authorities have the last word at a hastily arranged press conference and closed the loop.

Therefore, with everything happening at warp speed, here are 5 things you might have missed about the Little India riot.

1. There was a hero in the midst

Guy in checked shirt telling rioters to leave the bus alone:

Guy continues to tell rioters to move along:

2. Paramedics were fleeing the scene when the ambulance got torched

And you wonder why IPPT and combat fitness is essential even in the life-saving force.

Reminds you of that last part of Black Hawk Down where the troops had to run out of Somalia because there wasn't any transportation left?

3. The mainstream press knew as little as the rest of us about what was happening

This was what was initially reported:

This is what it really should have been:

4. Twitter had many fails in one night

All these people should be rounded up and put in the same room and made to laugh at one another's gullibility.

5. By Monday morning 10am, all traces of last night's mayhem have been erased
