A woman was caught on video urinating behind a closed counter at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI), sparking an investigation by Johor’s Immigration Department.

The 23-second video, which first surfaced online on May 5, showed the woman wearing a face mask being caught relieving herself behind a closed immigration counter.

The person filming was believed to have been a staff working there.

Department director Baharuddin Tahir said on May 8 that the investigation would help to identify when the incident took place, The Star reported.

He condemned the actions and said the person could have asked the authorities for assistance.

However, the department has yet to receive any reports relating to the matter, he said.

The Star reported him saying: “It is wrong to relieve yourself in public especially since BSI is a highly secured government building."

“If the person could no longer hold her bladder, then she should have asked for assistance from authorised personnel at BSI to go to the public toilet.”

The man filming could be heard shouting at the woman and asking her to clean up the mess.

The woman apologised before walking off.

The video has been reposted on various social media platforms and watched at least a million times in total.

This incident was not the first time a border crosser was seen urinating in public.

A photo of a man relieving himself against a wall supposedly at the immigration checkpoint was also circulated online, Shin Min Daily News reported.

But it was not clear when the incident occurred or if it was recent.

Online reactions unanimously slammed the duo's behaviour and called for the authorities to put them on the ban list to prevent them from travelling across the border.
