Xiang Xiang Nasi Lemak, the oldest stall at Tanjong Pagar Plaza Market and Food Centre, has closed down.

It was the first stall there to sell the dish after the hawker centre opened in 1977.

The stall is run by an elderly couple, Mr and Mrs Ho.

A statement posted online on March 9 read:

"We will be officially closed for business now as owners will be retiring. We would like to thank everyone for the years of support. Should we have a chance to serve again, we will be updating the details and venue in social media and google."

The stall was famous for its delectable pandan-infused nasi lemak rice and dishes that start from S$3.50 per meal.

The couple would prepare the ingredients from scratch from as early as 3am on the days that they were operating.

A video from June 2021 showed the couple frying the sambal chili and ikan bilis peanut by themselves.
