A kindhearted teacher in Malaysia was spotted going out of his way to ensure his students’ wellbeing, despite heavy rain.

In a 15-second TikTok clip dated Apr. 14, the teacher can be seen walking towards a car with a bright red umbrella amid the pouring rain.

The video was uploaded by a mother of a special needs student, under the username @aziella_azie,

Her son waved to the teacher and alighted, before being sheltered by the latter all the way to the school’s entrance.

In the video, the caption wrote that the kind teacher was rushing around to fetch students from their parents’ cars at 6:30am in the morning, despite the heavy rain.

The student’s mother told World of Buzz that the teacher, named Mahendran, led the school's students community affairs.

She added that her son has autism and parents of special needs students were allowed to drop off their children within the school compound, but thanks to Mahendran's efforts, she felt comfortable enough to drop him off outside.

Mahendran was also described as “helpful” and “caring” to other students, while other special education teachers at the school also did a good job of teaching.

Warmed the hearts of netizens

As of time of writing, the video has garnered more than 1.2 million views and 130,000 likes.

Many reacted positively to the teacher's actions and lauded him for his humility and kindness.

Some even recognised the teacher and said that he was well-loved by his students when he previously taught at SK Sungai Besi.
