SMRT has provided an update following signalling system faults that occurred on Apr. 7, leading to delays on the Circle Line.

In a Facebook post on Apr. 8, SMRT shared that engineers had worked through the night to diagnose and replace the Signalling System Automatic Training Control (ATC) cards.

ATC software logs and the faulty ATC cards will be handed over to ALSTOM (a rolling stock manufacturer) for further diagnosis.

To ensure smooth passenger service, SMRT said that together with Land Transport Authority (LTA) and ALSTOM, they will continue to closely monitor the performance of the Signalling ATC system.

Background

On Apr. 7 at around 2pm, SMRT shared on Twitter that passengers could expect up to 40 minutes of delay for those travelling between Dhoby Ghaut/Marina Bay and Paya Lebar on the Circle Line.

They confirmed that the disruption was due to a "signal fault" and was advised to use other lines such as Downtown Line, North South Line or the North East Line if they were caught at the affected stations.

SMRT also provided free regular and bridging bus services for those who were affected.

Normal service was restored at about 3:15pm.
