S'pore woman in M'sia falls face first when motorcyclist snatches gold chain from her neck

The motorcyclist left empty-handed because the chain broke.

A motorcyclist in Malaysia attempted to rob a Singaporean woman of her gold chain.

The 64-year-old victim was walking with her husband along 1 Jalan Batu Caves in Selangor, reported Shin Min Daily News.

Motorcyclist goes for gold chain

The incident took place at 10:45am on Apr. 18.

In a video circulating online, a motorcyclist was seen staring at the elderly couple from behind.

After the couple had walked some distance, the motorcyclist made his move.

Riding past the woman, he shot out a hand to reach for the gold chain worn around her neck.

He was able to grab it.

Woman goes down

As the motorcyclist rode on, the woman was dragged forward by the force exerted on the chain.

She tumbled face first to the ground.

Her husband immediately went to help her sit up, before helping her to her feet with difficulty.

According to the report by Shin Min, the woman sustained injuries on her knee and right hand.

There was an attempt

After the gold chain was snatched from the woman's neck, it broke and slipped from the robber's hands.

He fled the scene empty-handed.

Malaysian police are currently investigating.
