Motorcyclist, 20, an SCDF NSF, dies after colliding with U-turning taxi in Jurong

The 35-year-old taxi driver was arrested for careless driving causing grievous hurt.

The 20-year-old man involved in an accident along Jurong West Avenue 1 on Apr. 6 has passed away, the police said.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) have confirmed that the rider is an SCDF national serviceman who was off-duty at the time of the accident.

SCDF also shared that they are providing the necessary assistance and support to his family.

Suffered grievous injuries

The accident took place at around 5:15am.

The man had been heading straight before colliding with a taxi making a U-turn, reported Shin Min Daily News.

A 68-year-old taxi driver resting nearby in his vehicle heard a loud noise and went to investigate.

He saw the motorcyclist bleeding from his nostrils while lying on the ground.

The motorcyclist suffered grievous injuries to his ankles and feet, to the extent that his bones were visible.

He was conveyed to National University Hospital (NUH) while unconscious.

The accident had left the rider in critical condition, according to Shin Min.
