A man in Singapore successfully took home S$1,000 after betting on 4D number "4450".

The significance of this number?

A customer had mistakenly paid S$4,450 to a hawker in Tampines for S$44.50 worth of food.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the lucky punter said he felt drawn to the numbers when reading the story and decided to purchase the lottery ticket accordingly.

On Apr. 9, it was revealed that 4450 was one of the numbers that won the starter prize.

A S$1 bet wins S$250 in the starter prize category.

However, the man is not the only person who was blessed with good fortune this year.

Earlier in February, a number of residents and merchants in Woodlands were able to bring home thousands of dollars by betting on four numbers provided by a lion dance troupe in their HDB estate.

The biggest winner amongst the punters was the owner of a salon, who reportedly won S$8,000.

Background

On the morning of Apr. 6, Zhang Mingfang (hanyu pinyin), the owner of a hawker stall at Block 201 Tampines Street 21, realised that a customer had overpaid more than S$4,400 for her meal.

However, at the time, the customer had already gone off, and Zhang was unable to leave her stall unattended to run after her.

Fortunately, the customer soon realised her error and returned to the stall two hours later to claim her refund.

Upon seeing the customer, Zhang recognised her immediately and refunded her promptly.

It is understood that the customer disclosed that it was the first time she had used the PayNow transfer service.
