A 34-year-old man died on April 5 after he was allegedly pushed by another man on March 26 and fell down a flight of stairs, fracturing his skull.
The victim, Thevandran Shanmugam, fell backwards outside Concorde Shopping Mall in Orchard Road at around 6:30am.
This was after the accused Muhammed Azfary Abdul Kaha, 27, allegedly pushed Thevandran in the chest.
He was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and sustained multiple fractures to the skull.
On Friday evening, April 7, he was cremated at Mandai Crematorium.
Man charged
Court documents did not state if both men knew each other prior to the incident.
Azfary was charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt on March 27.
Father could not reach son
According to Shin Min Daily News, the deceased man's father had tried to contact his son five times via phone calls on the morning of the incident but no one picked up.
This was after the father had already prepared breakfast for his son but realised he had not come home.
At about 9am, Thevandran's friend called the father and informed him that his son "was pushed down the stairs and suffered serious head injuries and was bleeding profusely".
The father rushed to the hospital and saw his son unconscious and his head bandaged.
Doctors told him that Thevandran's condition was critical.

A photo of Thevandran in the aftermath of the incident was circulated on WhatsApp.
The picture showed him with a pool of blood near his head as he laid next to the staircase.
Nightspot Club Rumours at Concorde Shopping Mall took to social media to refute claims that the deceased had visited the club prior to the incident.
The club wrote: “He was at a bar located in the same building and the incident happened after hours.”There are several night clubs in Concorde Shopping Mall.
Accused released from jail early
Azfary could be jailed for up to 10 years, as well as caned or fined if convicted.
According to court documents, Azfary was allegedly on a remission order when he committed the offence.
An inmate who spends a portion of his sentence outside of jail for previous offences does so under a remission order.
If convicted, he can face an extra 178 days in jail.
