Getting your passport renewed is not a particularly enjoyable experience.

This was more so than usual for a woman Shakira Mamii, who did it at UTC Johor on Apr. 4.

No eyelash extensions allowed

The woman wrote a post as a public service announcement to other women thinking of getting their passport done.

She shared that she had walked in and gotten a queue ticket at 8:30am.

To ensure a smooth process, she made sure that her attire was appropriate, and although her hair was dyed, she tied it back in a high ponytail.

She also had no bangs and no stray hairs.

A brisk two-hour wait later, the immigration officer at the desk didn't seem to have an issue with her appearance until a female officer in the adjacent booth pointed out her long eyelashes.

She promptly told her to take them off, because her face needs to be "original".

According to China Press, she informed them that she couldn't possibly remove them, as they were not simply false eyelashes she had glued on, but eyelash extensions.

Additionally, she had just gotten them done recently and was reluctant to do so.

Unfortunately, they instructed her to get it sorted at a salon and come back to the immigration office.

Meanwhile, they offered to keep her queue number.

Removed them in the toilet

"I know contact lenses and make up is not allowed, but... I overlooked this point. After all, I see them as my own eyelashes. I think ladies who have extensions can relate," wrote the woman.

Eventually, she went to the toilet to pluck them off her eyelids "one by one".

"Even my own 'original' eyelashes came off," she lamented.

She said that while it didn't hurt, her heart ached when removing the extensions.

When she returned to the counter, the officer asked her how she fixed it so quickly. She only smiled in response.

After successfully renewing her passport, she went to a salon to get her eyelashes fixed that same night.

She feared that it might take two months for her eyelashes to grow back, so she spent another RM100 (S$30) to get her extensions done again.
