After complaints about noise, 15 Malaysian police officers swooped in and rounded up 71 errant motorcycle riders.
The riders were then made to push their motorcycles along the road to the Batu Pahat Traffic Station — covering a distance of 3km in the process.
The riders, and their police escort, were filmed from an overhead bridge as they walked along Jalan Kluang, a road in Batu Pahat town, Johor, in the wee hours of Apr. 14.
The incredible sight was captured from other angles as well, and the videos were posted online.
Riders were aged 16 to 27
Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Ismail Dollah, told Malaysian media outlet UtusanTV that the riders, aged 16 to 27, were escorted back to the Batu Pahat Traffic Police Station for the purpose of inspection and summons.
15 officers were involved in the operation, which was conducted after the police received complaints about teenagers who often gathered and disturbed public order, said Ismail.
Video footage of the raid was also shared to the Batu Pahat District Police Facebook page, with the caption proudly stating:
"71 riders pushed their motorcycles for 3 kilometres after getting 'netted' by Batu Pahat Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division"
The police operation, named "Op Samseng Jalanan" (Malay for "Operation Street Thug") was held from 11pm on Apr. 13 to 1:30am the next morning.
25 motorcycles confiscated
Ismail said a total of 155 summonses were issued for various offences.
25 motorcycles were confiscated as their riders did not have a driving license, or had made illegal modifications to the exhaust.
He added that parents are advised to monitor their children in light of the upcoming festive season.
