We in Singapore love to curse our equator-bound heat, but sometimes, news comes along that makes 30^oC seem like sweater weather.

India is like, hot hot

People in India are not having the best summer.

Across India, the average maximum temperature in February reached 29.54^oC. It was the highest since 1901, when India's Meteorological Department started keeping records, reported The Straits Times.

From there, the heatwave engulfing the country didn't ease up.

As of Apr. 19, parts of India have reported day-time temperatures of over 40^oC.

According to The Straits Times, it's gotten to the point where states like Tripura and West Bengal have shut schools for the week.

Sunny side up

A man in Bengal braved the sweltering heat to demonstrate just hot India's hot is.

In this video uploaded to Facebook on Apr. 9, Puchu Babu demonstrated it with a frying pan that he had left out on his terrace for some time.

After panning up to the blistering sun above, the man gingerly cracked an egg over the pan.

The second the raw egg hit the pan, it stated to cook.

No oil was needed.

Puchu Babu didn't appear to have any technique in mind as he tilted the pan to spread the egg around.

His egg-cooking skills might have lacked some finesse, but thanks to the sun, he got the job done.

He ended the video by eating the egg.

It appears like India will have more outdoor egg-cooking days to come.

According to NDTV, "above-normal temperatures along with heat wave conditions are expected in most parts of India till May 31, threatening to lower crop production and hurting the efforts to control food costs".
