Sub-zero temperatures on the summit of Mount Kinabalu have led to the formation of icicles, ice, and snow at Sabah's tallest peak.
Cold weather
In a Facebook post by Sabah Parks, the conservation-based statutory body said that temperatures recorded between 2:30am and 7am were as low as -5°C.
The icicle formations and snow were found at the Panalaban substation, which is the last pit stop before the ascent to Low's Peak, sitting at over 3,200 metres above sea level, up to the summit point, according to The Star.
Sabah Parks also noted that the granite surface on the mountain was slippery due the formation of ice.
They urged climbers to exercise caution when climbing and descending from the mountain.
"So far, all climbing activities are smooth and under control. No emergencies or accidents have been reported." Sabah Parks added.
Additionally, Sabah Parks cautioned that colder conditions can easily produce acute mountain sickness (AMS) in climbers.

Some commenters were in awe of the ice formations and snow.
While others asked for climbers to be safe
This is not an uncommon occurrence on Mount Kinabalu, as it experienced snowfall last year too.
