Every man should be responsible for his sins, but for Jackie, his father's extramarital affair has haunted him since he was just six years old.
The 35-year-old told Mothership his tale.

The tale of a father's extramarital lover
His father's lover, for unfathomable reasons, has been harassing Jackie and his mother for years. First through harassment calls and then anonymous letters.
Even though he has his own family now and moved out of his house, his father's lover doesn't give up on reminding his family of her existence.
The police caught her once, she was given a conditional warning, and things died down for a while.
However, she is back and has even picked up novel forms of harassment that are impossible to track her down.
The woman that always called to scold his mother
For many years, Jackie's family didn't know his father had a lover. Or at least his father told him the woman wasn't his lover, and they believed him.
Jackie remembered that the woman often called his home's landline when he was a child.
He was too young to understand what she said, which was mostly all sorts of obscenities scolding his mother.
"My mum installed caller id (sic) because of these calls and told me not to pick up calls from private numbers," Jackie recalled.
Father claimed woman is a colleague
When he was older, Jackie discovered the woman was actually his father's colleague.
His father claimed that the "colleague" was not quite sound in her mind.
"He said he had nothing to do with her and did not want to escalate the matter to the police. So we all had to put up with her antics," Jackie expressed his resentment for his father.
"That was his solution — ignore her and have his family constantly attacked."
Mother harassed at workplace
Jackie's mother had it worst.
The woman called her workplace and made a fuss. She also flooded his mother's company's fax machine with slander.
Jackie's family had once accepted that having a "crazy woman" constantly hounding them was part and parcel of their lives.
At one point, things did improve when they stopped using the landline and after Jackie's mother left her workplace.
Unfortunately, it was only a moment's respite.
Harassment evolved, father feigns ignorance
Eight years ago, the harassment restarted and became even worse.
Jackie's mother started getting random calls from strangers claiming she owed them money, and people with fake profiles harassed her on Facebook, even pestering her family and friends.
They confronted his father, who admitted he was back in contact with the woman but insisted nothing had happened between them.
Father retconned story after sex photos in the mail
Two years ago, Jackie and his mother received explicit photos of his father engaging in sexual acts with the woman through anonymous letters.

The letters wrote "不要再见我的老公" which means "don't see my husband again" in Chinese.
Jackie's father knew the game was up and admitted he had an affair — since the beginning.
"He retconned his story," Jackie snickered.
"Everybody was doing it"
Jackie's father claimed that they were only "just friends" and said there was "nothing wrong" since "everybody was doing it".
"He started accusing my mum had an affair too, which was not true and besides the point. Whatever he did, or whatever he wants to do, he should keep the crazy woman away from us."
The situation in their house turned into a stalemate when his father refused to solve the problem he had created, and his mother didn't want to report the matter to the police.
Hell notes & used joss sticks & candles
Then things escalated further when the woman sent hell notes and used joss sticks and candles.

His mother then finally decided to make a police report.
"We were not bothered by the superstition," Jackie clarified. "But by her sheer tenacity, we didn't know how much further she would go."
Police provided no salvation
To their dismay, reporting the matter to the police was no salvation for the family.
"They investigated, but she left no trail, so there were no leads," Jackie explained.
Neither did their MP
Not long after, his neighbours all received the same letters, and the family tried seeking help from their MP.
She only advised them to go for mediation.
He scoffed at the suggestion:
"How do we even mediate with a crazy woman?"
Father's lover got caught stalking
When it seemed like nothing could be done to stop the woman, she got caught when she went too far.
Jackie works as a professional emcee, and a few days after he completed an event at a hotel, the hotel staff called him up and said the front desk received a letter addressed to him.
When he returned to the hotel, he discovered it was the "usual" harassment letter. He checked with the staff how they received it, who told him that a woman that fits the description of his father's lover passed it to them.
She only received a conditional warning
"I was angry that she stalked me to where I work," Jackie said. "So I called the police officer in charge of our case."
The police officer went through the hotel's CCTV and identified the woman. She was arrested not long after.
"They only gave her a conditional warning," Jackie said in disappointment. "We were not too happy about it."
Despite the disappointment, they were relieved that the harassment did stop after her arrest.
The peace ended up being temporary again.
Untrackable harassment: Endless marketing calls
"The letters stopped, but a few months later, I started getting all kinds of marketing calls I had never signed up for, "Jackie listed a few examples. "Gym membership, spa memberships, hair treatment, working space and even for invisible braces."

Then his Whatsapp and work email became flooded with all kinds of advertising.

He tried going to the police again, but there was no evidence against her.
Man at wit's end, just wants father's lover to back off
Jackie's next avenue for recourse is to file a Magistrate's complaint, but he knows it's not much hope, and he's at his wit's end.
He hopes that by throwing the story into the spotlight, the woman might back off or at least force his father to do something about it.
Jackie chastised his father for his inaction:
"Having an affair is one thing, but looking the other way while your family is in distress is plain irresponsible."
