Four customers -- three men and one woman -- who patronised a Prinsep Street bar asked for the bill at the end of their night, but left without paying S$275.

The establishment, SMÖÖbar, has reached out to the public via Facebook in an attempt to find the customers.

The incident occurred on Apr. 8.

The customers arrived between 8:10pm and 8:20pm, and left separately just before 11pm.

SMÖÖbar posted surveillance footage and photos featuring the non-paying customers, as well as a picture of their bill.

A photo of the bill showed that the customers ordered S$188 worth of Roku Gin and beer mixers, S$18 worth of soju, and two types of food worth S$24.

Gave them benefit of the doubt

Giving the group the benefit of the doubt, the bar said it believes that the customers "might have forgotten about the bill" despite asking for the receipt.

The bar also stated that while the bill was not "a huge sum", it was significant to the restaurant, as rising business costs have made it increasingly difficult for Food & Beverage (F&B) establishments to stay afloat.

The Facebook post also shared that the customers left a few belongings behind, including a cloth bag, clothes, and a pair of earphones at the table.

The establishment claimed that they have since taken precautionary steps to ensure that such cases do not happen again.

Found out about identity of 3 men in the group

On Apr. 10, the bar posted an update on Facebook about the incident.

The bar wrote that it has established the identity of two of the four men involved.

The bar had reached out to one of the men on Instagram, who confirmed that he was at the bar that night.

The man said he would check with his friend regarding the bill, and that he initially thought that his friend had settled it.

He added that he would settle the bill if it was not settled.

However, a few hours passed and the man failed to reply the bar or provide a receipt of the completed transaction.

The bar implored those who know the identified parties to contact it immediately.

In another separate update on April 12, the bar said it had reached out to another customer who said he would make payment but ended up putting it off and not settling the bill.

In the earlier post, the bar said one of the men it reached out to was the same person involved in another incident previously in 2018.
