An 82-year-old woman, Lim Moi Bay, was left severely injured after she was allegedly knocked down by a garbage truck at Bedok.

Incident happened on Apr. 13

Lim's son, Edmund Tan, wrote a Facebook post on Apr. 15, 2023 appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Tan stated that the incident happened at around 12:19pm on Apr. 13, just two days before Lim's 83rd birthday.

She had gone to Blk 216 Bedok Food Centre and Market to buy some prayer items and was making her way home when she was allegedly knocked down by a garbage truck.

Conveyed to Changi General Hospital

In a video of the incident shared on the Singapore roads accident.com Facebook group, Lim could be seen laying face down on the road along Bedok North Street 1, next to a stationary white 800 Super garbage truck.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel were attending to her with the assistance of two 800 Super staff.

Two male passersby and an SBS Transit bus driver could also be seen in the video.

Incoherent and cannot recognise anyone

SCDF and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) told Mothership that Lim was in a conscious state when she was conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

Tan stated that the incident had "fractured [Lim's] ribs and leg badly".

It also left her with injuries on her head and spine and she required emergency surgery.

She is currently in a high-dependency ward and is due for more surgeries as she is "still bleeding in the brain", Tan stated.

He added that Lim — who is normally "jovial" and "independent" — is in an "incoherent state" and "cannot recognise anyone".

Appeal for witnesses

Tan stated: "I am urgently appealing for witnesses as there was no camera to capture the accident and I desperately want to know what happened."

"I appreciate if anyone who witnessed the scene or possessed camera footage in their in car cams to contact me.

I can be contacted via messenger or my email [email protected]."

SPF said a 65-year-old truck driver is assisting with ongoing investigations.

800 Super responded to Mothership's queries and said they are aware of the incident and are assisting the police with investigations.
