Axe-wielding man, 25, at Stamford Road used force against policeman, facing 8 charges

Three of the charges arose from offences committed earlier this year.

The axe-wielding man filmed confronting the police along Stamford Road in the early hours of Apr. 11 has been charged for multiple offences.

Manohar Thirunavukkarasu, 25, faces a total of eight charges -- five related to the Apr. 11 incident and three for offences committed earlier this year.

He is currently in remand at the Institute of Mental Health for a medical examination.

The next court hearing is scheduled for Apr. 26, 2023.

Used force against policeman on Apr. 11

According to charge sheets, at or about 2:30am on Apr. 11, Manohar allegedly attacked two individuals at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University.

The 25-year-old slapped a woman on her face and also punched and kicked a man's head which caused swelling.

For these acts, Manohar faces two charges of voluntarily causing hurt.

Manohar also uttered the words "you relax for one second you see what happen to your face", "s*** the f*** up" and "you g** b** mother f*****" at a responding police officer.

He is also accused of aggressively exerting force against the same officer's hand and kicking his left leg.

For these, Manohar faces one charge of using insulting words towards a public servant and one charge of intentionally using force on a public servant in the execution of his duty.

Manohar is also charged with having in possession a "Boss" axe measuring 40.2cm at a public place without lawful authority or for a lawful purpose.

Sent photo of genitals to one person in March

On Feb. 26, Manohar trespassed into a condominium complex, Sophia Residence, along Sophia Road.

Later on Mar. 4, at about 8am, the man allegedly distributed an image of his genitals to an individual, which caused alarm to the person.

On the same day at 11am, Manohar harassed the same individual by using insulting and abusive words.

According to charge sheets, he uttered the words "f***" and "Thevidya", which means "prostitute" in English.
