The body of an 80-year-old woman was found in her flat at Block 11 Holland Drive on Sunday, March 26, Shin Min Daily News reported.
The police were seen outside the unit on the 22nd floor.
The police said they were alerted to a case of unnatural death at 1:55pm that day, and the elderly woman was found lying motionless in the unit.
A locksmith arrived at around 3pm to open the door.
Police removed the body at around 5pm, according to the Chinese media.
A resident made a police report after noticing a foul smell.
A neighbour said they knew that the woman was surnamed "Ho", and was never married, but always referred to her as "teacher".
The deceased was a primary school teacher previously, the neighbour disclosed.
She was regularly seen going out for dinner in the evenings and would chat with neighbours.
But she was not seen for a week prior to the discovery of her body, and neighbours had initially thought she had gone away for a while, as the lights in the house were not turned on.
According to the neighbour, the deceased was previously staying with her elder sister, who then moved out when she got her own place.
But the elder sister had passed away earlier.
Another neighbour said the deceased woman had been staying in the unit for more than 40 years.
