A Volkswagen Scirocco was seen beating the red light along Hougang Street 51 on March 5.

A video of the incident and the moments leading up to it was filmed on the dashboard and rear cameras by a fellow road user.

What video showed

The clip showed the red light-beating incident, as well as the moments leading up to it.

As seen in the video, a man in the front passenger seat got out of the car to swap places with the woman driver.

The Volkswagen, which appeared to still have a parking ticket stuck to its windscreen, was at a stationary position along Hougang Street 51 waiting to turn right.

After turning right, the car recording the scene was seen pulling ahead of the Volkswagen.

The Volkswagen then caught up shortly after before pulling ahead on the right-lane of the two-lane road.

The pedestrian who was crossing the road at the time, who had the right of way, was seen stopping in time for the Volkswagen to pass at high speed.

The penalty for beating a red traffic light outside a Silver Zone and school zone is 12 demerit points and a S$400 fine.
