A 49-year-old former primary school teacher who was accused of sexual misconduct felt faint and vomited before his trial on Mar. 9.
As a result, the trial could not continue.
The man allegedly sexually assaulted his student between 2006 to 2009. The alleged abuse started when she was 12.
His offences came to light in 2017.
The victim is now 28. There is a gag order to protect the victim's identity.
The man faces seven charges under the Children and Young Persons Act. He pleaded not guilty in court, Shin Min Daily News reported.
What happened
The man was the victim's primary school mother tongue teacher, and met the victim when she was 12.
At the time of the alleged offences, the man was married with two young daughters.
In 2007, the man allegedly kissed the victim, then aged 12, on the lips while they were in his car.
In subsequent years, he allegedly touched her breasts and private parts. He also allegedly asked the victim to perform sex acts on him.
They allegedly had sex in November 2010, when the victim was 15.
The victim told her older sister about what happened years later, and the latter made a police report.
The man was arrested at the unnamed primary school on Jun. 28, 2017.
During the arrest, the police seized various items including the man's phone, from which messages between the man and the victim were retrieved.
Diagnosed with anxiety disorder
Shin Min reported that the man, who was previously diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, displayed symptoms of an epileptic attack while in court on Mar. 9.
Court was adjourned until the next day.
However, on Mar. 10, the man vomited and fell to the ground before entering the courtroom.
He was attended to by his family members and court officials.
The pre-trial conference has been adjourned to Mar. 21.
