The Singapore Flyer flight operations will be unavailable from Mar. 1 to Apr. 2, 2023, due to scheduled maintenance.

A reminder was posted on the Singapore Flyer's Facebook on Feb. 27, 2023.

According to the Singapore Flyer's website, the temporary closure is due to scheduled replacement and maintenance work.

The Time Capsule and Retail Terminal will still be open.

The Time Capsule is an immersive and interactive attraction that explores Singapore's history, heritage, culture and landscape.

Previous closure due to technical issue

On Jan. 19, 2022, the Singapore Flyer stopped its flight operations due to a technical issue.

According to owner Straco Leisure, the technical issue was detected during a routine maintenance inspection.

In 2013, the Singapore Flyer was placed under receivership five years after it opened in 2008.

Receivership is a process "used by creditors to take control of a business in order to recover debt," the Wall Street Journal defined in its article on the flyer.

In 2014, Straco Corporation bought the Singapore Flyer for S$140 million in cash, The Straits Times reported.

The observation wheel cost S$240 million to build.
