Unless you've been living under a rock, you'd know that the past few days have been pretty wet.

Record-setting wet, in fact.

According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), Feb. 28 saw the highest daily total rainfall ever recorded in the month of February, at 225.5mm in Kallang.

This significantly beats out the previous record: 159.3mm on Feb. 4, 1995.

Monsoon surge

The non-stop rain was brought about by a monsoon surge over the South China Sea, NEA said.

The rain was heaviest over the eastern and southern parts of the island, with Tanjong Katong recording 281 per cent above average rainfall.

Mandai, on the other hand, received just 81 per cent above average.

The rain was also accompanied by some nice air-con weather, with temperatures plunging to a low of 21.3°C on Feb. 15.

Don't ditch your brollies

For better or worse, the wet weather isn't expected to subside just yet.

Rainfall for the first half of March is forecast to be above average over most parts of Singapore.

Meanwhile, daily temperatures are expected to range from 24 to 33°C, NEA said.
