PM Lee & M'sia PM Anwar meet in China

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met with his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, today (Mar. 30) in China.

Both leaders are in China for an official visit and gave a speech at the Opening Plenary of the Bo’ao Forum for Asia (BFA) in Hainan, China.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said that the two discussed bilateral relations between Singapore and Malaysia.

"Face-to-face meeting with Singapore's Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong before attending Bo'ao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2023 (BFA 2023).

Through this morning's meeting, Hsien Loong and I discussed several matters involving the relationship and two-way cooperation between Malaysia and Singapore.

May the friendly relations between [our] two countries be intact and flourish, God willing."

Malaysiakiniciting Bernama, also said that PM Lee and Anwar had a "four-eye" meeting.

Previously, Anwar made an official visit to Singapore on Jan. 30 and signed three agreements furthering cooperation between Singapore and Malaysia.

Meanwhile, PM Lee is in China for an official visit from Mar. 27 to Apr. 1.

This morning (Mar. 30), he made a speech at the BFA forum highlighting Asia's enormous economic promise, but only if the region remains stable and open.

He will be going to Beijing tomorrow (Mar. 31) to meet China's president Xi Jinping and premier Li Qiang.
