Fast food in the form of McDonald's is getting more affordable over in Malaysia.

Outlets there will now be offering RM5 (S$1.49) meals.

Customers can choose between three different burgers — Chicken Burger, Bubur Ayam McD, and the McEgg — accompanied by a small Iced Lemon Tea.

The RM5 meals will be offered all day across all outlets in Malaysia.

Meals for people from “all walks of life”

This is part of the nationwide Menu Rahmah initiative, launched by Malaysia's Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living on Jan. 31.

According to Malay Mail, the initiative called on food and beverage (F&B) establishments to offer meals at the recommended price of RM5 to support the low-income and needy amidst the rising cost of living.

Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Malaysia, Melati Abdul Hai, shared that the launch of McDonald's Menu Rahmah "enables us to provide our meals to Malaysians from all walks of life", reported Business Today.

The ministry aims to have some 15,000 premises participate in this initiative.
