A young man allegedly stole money from an elderly busker's tip jar at Orchard Road in broad daylight.

A video of the incident was posted on the Sgfollowsall Instagram account on Mar. 7.

What happened

In the video, 78-year-old Chua Kim Seng — a longtime busker of eight years — was performing a dance routine when a young man in a blue t-shirt and headphones approached the tip jar.

At first, the busker gave him a thumbs-up, likely assuming that the man was giving him a tip.

But he soon realised that the man was instead taking money out of the jar, and indignantly gestured at him to return the money as the man casually walked away.

A passerby who noticed the confrontation also joined in, going after the young man and calling "eh!".

It was not clear whether she managed to catch up to him.

Meanwhile, the cameraman could be heard laughing. "Oh my God, he took his money man!" he exclaimed. "Shit! Poor uncle."

Fortunately, a kind audience member gave him a tip after the confrontation. Uncle Chua eventually resumed dancing.
