Photos of an elderly woman in Malaysia working as a mascot at a night bazaar recently went viral, garnering sympathy among netizens.
The photos, which were shared in a Facebook post on Saturday (Mar. 4), showed the elderly woman putting on the head of a bunny mascot costume to entertain people on the streets of a bazaar in Kuala Lumpur.
The elderly woman has a container hung around her neck for passers-by to make their contribution.
At one point in time, the elderly woman can be seen taking off the head of her costume to rest, showing her visibly tired face.
"At this age, she should have rested and stayed at home."
The user who posted the photos of the elderly woman lamented that this shows the "difficulty" of living in a big city like Kuala Lumpur.
"I was shocked to see that one of the cartoon characters brightening up the atmosphere of Wangsa Maju Night Bazaar was a senior citizen around my mother's age and probably your parents' age," he wrote.
"I am thrilled to see her determination, moreover at this age, she should have rested and stayed at home," he continued. "You can see the exhaustion in her face but what can [she] do, maybe this is the only way for her to earn an income."
Garnered sympathy
The post has since gone viral, with many users sharing and commenting on the situation.
One person commented how hot it must be to be trapped inside the costume.
Another commenter said it is sad that the elderly woman still has to work and entertain others while others her age are resting at home with their family.
Meanwhile, there are others who are trying to locate the elderly woman, perhaps in an attempt to lend her a helping hand.
