Malaysian child actress Puteri Rafasya, 12, fractured her hip bone during filming on a television series set after a child played a prank on her by pulling the chair out from under her.
As a result, Puteri is now unable to sit or walk without assistance from her family, Berita Harian reported.
According to an Instagram post, Puteri was injured on Feb. 22, 2023, while on set for the television series "Jaga Aku Selamanya".
The incident has also left her requiring diapers.
The problem Puteri is facing is associated with the nerves, said Puteri's mother, Fatin Aliza Salmi.
Child was not supposed to be on set
Fatin told Berita Harian that the prank was carried out by a child who should not have been on the set.
Fatin said that while Puteri and some actors were rehearsing, the child pulled the chair away from Puteri.
She then fell on the leg of a tripod used for filming.
This resulted in a fractured hip bone and numbness in her leg, leaving her wheelchair-bound.
Child's family did not take responsibility
Fatin stated that the attitude of the child's family was rude as they appeared to have shirked responsibility and did not want to care about what happened to Puteri.
"Because of that, I was forced to speak out about this case. It is not my fault, but the party who should have taken responsibility washed their hands off it," she said to Berita Harian.
The production team of the television series apologised to Fatin for not preventing outsiders from coming on to the set.
Fatin shared that the team plans to wait for Puteri to recover before filming again, as there are still a few more episodes to prepare.
According to MStar, Fatin was to meet with the involved parties to resolve the issue on Mar. 13, 2023.
She stated that before the meeting, the family did not apologise for the incident.
Still can't walk or sit properly
On Feb. 26, an Instagram update stated that Puteri was still confined to the wheelchair as she could not sit or walk properly.
Another Instagram post shared that Puteri cannot sit for more than an hour.
On Mar. 10, Puteri was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital in an ambulance at 3am due to urine incontinence and numbness in her legs.
A specialist saw her before she was transferred to Hospital Tunku Azizah and warded until further notice.
