Lance Reddick, who starred in 'John Wick' & 'The Wire', passes away at 60

American actor Lance Reddick passed away on Mar. 17, 2023, at the age of 60.

Reddick was perhaps best known for his roles as Cedric Daniels in HBO's hit crime drama "The Wire" and Charon in the "John Wick" franchise.

Sudden death

According to NBC News, Reddick's publicist Mia Hansen said in a statement that the actor died "suddenly" and attributed his death to natural causes.

No further details were provided.

"Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time," Hansen added.

Law enforcement sources told celebrity news website TMZ that Reddick's body was found in his home on Friday morning at 9:30am.

Most recently, he reprised his role as Charon for "John Wick: Chapter 4" and had been doing press tours together with fellow cast members.

Besides being a renowned actor, he also voiced characters in various video game franchises.

These include Sylens in "Horizon Zero Dawn" and "Horizon Forbidden West", Martin Hatch in "Quantum Break" and Commander Zavala in the "Destiny" franchise.

Outpour of respect

Since the news of his passing, his co-stars and directors have taken to social media to pay their respects.

Keanu Reaves and John Wick 4 director Chad Stahelski said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly that they would be dedicating the film to Reddick.

"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick,

He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family, and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly."

Reddick is survived by his wife Stephanie and children Yvonne Nicole and Christopher.
