On Mar. 12, Malaysian actor Kamal Adli was attacked by a man with a baton at Singapore Expo.
He sustained injuries to his head and underwent surgery at Changi General Hospital.
Assailant to be charged in court
According to a police statement on Mar. 13, preliminary investigations revealed that the assailant, 33, was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and possession of an offensive weapon.
He will be charged in court on Mar. 14 for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon, the police said in a press release, also on Mar. 13.
The baton was seized as a case exhibit.

If convicted, the man can face an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.
