A Bangladeshi male was spotted on the train tracks at the Causeway walking towards Singapore on Mar. 9, 2023.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) posted on Facebook on Mar. 14, stating ICA officers promptly stopped the man from the Woodlands Checkpoint before he could become a safety hazard to ongoing train operations.

According to ICA, further checks on the man revealed he had no original identity or travel documents on him.

He was apprehended for suspected immigration offences.

"ICA takes a serious view on attempts to enter or depart Singapore illegally," it warned in their Facebook post.

Under the Immigration Act 1959, those caught for illegal entry can be fined up to S$1,000 or jailed for up to six months or both.

"As Guardians of Our Borders, ICA is committed to facilitating trade and safe travels while keeping Singapore's borders safe and secure," ICA wrote.
