In 2023, prices are up but cheap economy rice can still be found in Singapore.

More precisely, a one-meat, two-veg cai png combo for S$2.70 can still be bought from a coffee shop at Block 477 Tampines Street 43.

This is according to a post in the Hawkers United - Dabao 2020 Facebook group on March 17 by one satisfied diner, Ben Lim.

The economy rice stall is beside A1 Family Ayam Goreng & Western Food at #01-192.

As seen in the photo posted, a packet of economy rice comprising sweet and sour pork, toufu in gravy and steamed egg came up to S$2.70.

And the S$2.70 price tag is a recent upward revision, as a similar combo previously only cost S$2.50.

This is according to one commenter, who also mentioned that customers who want the S$2.70 set are to inform the hawker beforehand, as not meat items are priced the same.

Cheap economy rice combos in Tampines

According to separate post by Lim on March 17, another cheap economy rice combo is available at Our Tampines Hub hawker centre.

A curry chicken drumstick with sunny side up egg and potato is going for S$2.80.
