Bird Paradise, the latest addition to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, will have its soft launch on May 8, 2023 with new programmes for guests to enjoy.

Details were announced by Mandai Wildlife Group in a press release on Thursday (Mar. 30).

Bird Paradise is the successor to Jurong Bird Park, which closed its doors earlier this year to prepare for its relocation to Mandai.

During the soft opening period between May 8 to May 26, single-park admission will be at a special rate of S$38 for adults, S$23 for children aged three to 12 years old, and S$20 for seniors aged 60 and above.

Pre-booking of admission tickets will start from Apr. 24, 2023.

On and after May 27, tickets will be at the full price of S$48 for adults, S$33 for children, and S$20 for seniors.

Programmes to look out for

Apart from a refreshed park with 10 different thematic zones, guests will also be able to enjoy both new and familiar programmes at Bird Paradise.

At the Sky Amphitheatre, two new avian presentations will be on display --- "Predators on Wings" and "Wings of the World".

In a press release, Mandai Wildlife Group shared that the presentations will have "a new format and content, while retaining some of the favourite elements" from previous presentations at Jurong Bird Park.

Just like at Jurong Bird Park, feeding sessions for birds like Starlings, African Hornbills and Pelicans will return at Bird Paradise for S$8 per session.

The feeding sessions will take place at various zones in the park, such as at the Heart of Africa, Kuok Group Wings of Asia and Lory Loft.

"All proceeds from animal feedings go towards the conservation projects that Mandai Wildlife Group supports in Singapore and across the region," Mandai Wildlife Group said in its press release.

For those interested in the behind-the-scenes work of animal care, you can take a "backstage pass" to the Avian Healthcare and Research Centre.

Guests will get to observe the vets in action, see how meals for the park's birds are prepared, and learn more about conservation breeding programmes.

The behind-the-scenes tour will take place daily from 2pm to 3pm, and is priced at S$118.40 per pax on weekdays and S$148 per pax on weekends.

New public area with dining, retail and playgrounds

Along with the debut of Bird Paradise, a new area at the reserve --- Mandai Wildlife West --- will welcome guests too.

The "new ungated public node" will serve as the main arrival area for visitors to Bird Paradise and the upcoming Rainforest Wild.

Mandai Wildlife West features a 10m-tall waterfall, sculpted after Indonesia's Madakaripura waterfall.

There, kids can look forward to several new play areas such as the Pangolin Adventure and Pangolin Hideout.

Mandai Wildlife West will also house an array of dining options.

Luke's Lobster, Leckerbaer and Mr Holmes Bakehouse will be housed in a flagship multi-concept store while local brand Birds of Paradise will open a gelato boutique and sandwich bar, Mandai Wildlife Group shared.

Home-grown zero-waste bulk store Unpackt will also be found at Mandai Wildlife West.

Other dining options will include A&W, Collin's, Han's Union, Pavilion Banana Leaf, Old Chang Kee and Starbucks.

More than 3,000 birds migrated to new park

“Our animal care team and veterinarians have been carrying out the mammoth task of moving more than 3,000 birds from Jurong to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve," Mike Barclay, Group CEO of Mandai Wildlife Group shared.

According to Barclay, both the birds and park employees are settling in well at their new home.

"We look forward to welcoming everyone who’s eager to visit the new park during this run-in period," Barclay added.
