Limited edition S$1,000 S'pore note souvenirs now available in gold or silver from S$58

If you have rarely seen or held a S$1,000 bank note, here is your chance to get your hands on one.

The Singapore Mint just launched the "Singapore S$1,000 Currency Design Souvenirs" series which features the historical designs of the S$1,000 note in gold and silver.

Issuance of S$1,000 notes has been discontinued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore since Jan. 1, 2021, although notes in circulation remain legal tender.

Four designs to choose from

Souvenirs in the series come plated in either 0.5 gm 999 Fine Gold or 6 gm 999 Fine Silver, and features four different designs.

Portrait Currency Notes design (in circulation 1999-Present):

The Ship Series design (in circulation 1984-1999):

The Bird Series design (in circulation 1976-1984):

The Orchid Series design (in circulation 1967-1976):

The designs will bear the word "Specimen" in black and bold across the face of the souvenir.

Each piece will also be no more than 60 per cent in both width and length of the genuine note.

The pieces will also feature only one side of the note design.

Sets of four available

The 6 gm 999 Fine Silver souvenirs have a mintage of 6,888 pieces worldwide per design, and retail at S$58 each.

The 0.5 gm 999 Fine Gold souvenirs have a mintage of 3,888 pieces worldwide per design, and retail at S$158 each.

Collectors can also get the designs in a set with all four designs.

A set of the 6 gm 999 Fine Silver souvenirs retails at S$226.

A set of the 0.5 gm 999 Fine Gold souvenirs retails at S$620.

Members get a discount on the items.
