A car overturned after colliding with a taxi at the entrance of a HDB car park on Feb. 26, Shin Min Daily News reported.
The accident occurred just outside Block 350 along Ang Mo Kio Street 32 at 5.40pm.
The owner of a nearby western food stall was quoted by the Chinese media as saying that the car had been leaving the HDB estate when it collided with the taxi "coming from the other side of the road" at the intersection.
Before the car turned turtle, the accident also reportedly shattered its front windows, and left multiple cracks on the windshield and dents in the body.
Meanwhile, the taxi was left with a damaged bonnet.
Man and woman seen fleeing from car
Another eyewitness to the accident, surnamed Lin (hanyu pinyin), was quoted by Shin Min as saying that she saw a man and woman emerging from the car and fleeing the scene of the accident.
Both of them appeared to be injured, although it did not appear to be serious, she added.
Lin also guessed that they were in their 20s.
The owner of the food stall also claimed that when he walked over to help, the two people who emerged from the car and fled apparently smelled of alcohol.
Taxi driver and passenger taken to hospital
In response to Mothership's queries, the police said that a 52-year-old male taxi driver and a 79-year-old female passenger were conveyed to the hospital in a conscious state.
Taxi company Comfort confirmed that the driver had been given three days' of sick leave and is currently recuperating at home with his family.
The company was also quoted as saying that it is currently in touch with his family to offer support.
Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
