Creative Technology's founder Sim Wong Hoo has died on Jan. 4, 2023. He was 67.
Sim founded the company in 1981 and was the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Creative Technology said in a bourse filing that under Sim's leadership, the company became "famous for the Sound Blaster sound cards and is a worldwide leader in digital entertainment products".
The board has appointed Lee Kheng Nam, Independent Non-Executive Director, as acting Chairman of the board.
The president of the company’s Creative Labs Business Unit, Song Siow Hui, will be the interim Chief Executive Officer.
Song, who had worked with Sim for over 30 years, said that Sim's death "is a sad and sudden development" as the pair had recently discussed extensively on the company's future direction.
"During those discussions, Mr Sim was full of fresh vision," Song recalled.
Song shared that Sim had a long discussion with the Engineering team and had scheduled a meeting with the Online Sales team the next day.
