Do you like "Initial D"?
Because the fictional Fujiwara Tofu Shop is now a thing in Singapore.
In Geylang
Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop Singapore, a concept bistro, is based on the manga and anime "Initial D".
It will be opening along Sims Avenue in late February 2023.
Fans of "Initial D" will be able to pretend they are Takumi Fujiwara, the main character of the "Initial D" series, who is the son of legendary street racer Bunta Fujiwara.
Or that they have somehow ended up at the shop.
Attracted attention
As the public-facing shop front is beside a busy road, it has attracted the attention of passers-by and fans of "Initial D".
Many members of the public have stopped to take photos of and with the cafe, with cars parked at the side to recreate shots from the manga.
Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop Singapore first posted on Instagram on Jan. 19 to announce the opening in February 2023.
The caption said:
We’re almost there! Super stoked on this one. Hang out with us soon with your car buddies, or after your rounding nights with nice finger food, drinks and merch. Follow us for more updates!
The nondescript shop, next to the Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist Association, is easy to miss if it were not for its iconic, newly-renovated attention-grabbing look.
Photos of the unfinished interior have also been put up online.
The cafe has a car park located next to it.
The shop front has already provided many photo ops.
