A few neighbourhoods in Singapore will be starting off the new year with a bang.
Fireworks will be set off from five heartland locations, according to a newsletter by the People's Association (PA).
This is the third consecutive year of fireworks displays in heartland locations.
These are the sites where the fireworks will be set off:
- Boon Lay (carpark behind Savoy Theatre)
- Punggol (across One Punggol at Waterway Park)
- Keat Hong (309 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4)
- Our Tampines Hub (Town Square)
- MacPherson (behind MacPherson CC, along Pelton Canal)
More than 20 community celebrations
PA added that there will be more than 20 community celebrations held at various neighbourhoods in Singapore on Dec. 31.
These celebrations are expected to bring together more than 70,000 residents to celebrate the new year.
This will be the first time that such a physical year-end countdown festivities have resumed in the heartlands since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
This year also marks the return of the new year's fireworks display at Marina Bay.
