Singaporean referee Muhammad Taqi Aljaafari Bin Jahari will be the face of McDonald's Singapore's World Cup campaign which is scheduled to launch later this month.

Taqi has been selected as a video assistant referee (VAR) for the World Cup, and is the only referee from Singapore and the Asean region headed to Qatar, according to a press release by McDonald's.

The upcoming campaign, titled "Wanna go to McDonald's?" will see Taqi starring alongside other international celebrities such as ITZY and Khaby Lame.

The campaign will run from Nov. 24 to Dec. 28. Taqi said:

"I’ve always been a big fan of McDonald’s. I have so many memories growing up with McDonald’s and even now bringing my children there for hotcakes... I’m truly honoured both to be selected to officiate at the World Cup and to be a part of this World Cup celebration with McDonald’s."

McDonald's is one of the official sponsors for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Taqi had previously been appointed as the VAR official at the Olympics Men's football final in 2021 between Brazil and Spain, who were competing for the gold medal.
