A condominium unit in Sengkang caught fire in the early morning on Nov. 27, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Three people found unconscious

SCDF said in its Facebook post they were alerted to a fire at 9 Rivervale Crescent, the address of a condominium complex at Sengkang, at around 1am on Nov. 27.

Firefighters arrived and found a unit on the 14th floor on fire.

They entered the smoke-logged unit and found three unconscious persons, who were carried out of the unit and to the ground floor.

Two out of the three people conveyed to hospital pass away

SCDF said its emergency medical services personnel performed CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on two of the persons – a man and a woman.

They were subsequently conveyed to Sengkang General Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries, the Singapore Police Force said in response to Mothership's queries.

Both were 78 years old.

The third person, a 73-year-old man, was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital.

According to SCDF, the fire involved the contents of a bedroom.

About 150 persons from neighbouring units were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
