310 bus stops which have higher commuter flow will be outfitted with new Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) panels over the next two years.
These panels are an improved version of the current LED panels which only state bus arrival times.
The new panels will display more information and feature bigger fonts and more vibrant graphics:
Here's what the panels look like in real life:
The new PIDS panels will feature the following information:
- Incoming Bus – informs commuters when the next five buses are arriving.
- Quickest Way To – informs commuters which bus service to take to popular destinations nearby, in the shortest time possible.
- Bus Arrivals by Service – informs commuters of the arrival time of the next two buses of each service. It also indicates the destination and points of interest along the route, such as MRT stations and hospitals.
- Messages – includes travel advisories such as information on changes to bus services, rail disruptions or planned maintenance works on the MRT network.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that for a start, five panels will be progressively installed at bus stops along Bedok Reservoir Road, Jalan Eunos, Paya Lebar Road, Serangoon Road and Sims Avenue from September 2021.
Installation will be carried out at more bus stops from November 2021.
