A 46-year-old woman died after she was trapped under the rear wheel of a bus along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 on Aug. 25.
Woman trapped under the bus
Responding to queries from Mothership, the police said they were alerted to an accident involving a bus and a pedestrian along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 at 6:47am on Aug. 25.
A 46-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that they were alerted to the road traffic accident at about 6:45am on Aug. 25.
A person was found trapped under the rear wheel of a bus, said SCDF.
The person was extricated by SCDF using hydraulic rescue equipment, and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.
Bus driver arrested
According to the police, a 56-year-old bus driver was arrested for careless driving causing death.
Police investigations are ongoing.
A picture of the incident was posted online. A blue tent can be seen beside a SBS Transit bus.
Responding to queries from Mothership, SBS Transit's senior vice president of corporate communications Tammy Tan said:"We are deeply sorry that this has happened and are trying to get in touch with the next-of-kin to offer our condolences and assistance. We will do our best to help and support them during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, we are assisting the police in its investigations."
