Tinder users in Singapore can now add "vaccine stickers" to their profiles, Tinder announced on Monday (Aug. 23).

Users will have the option to display their Covid-19 vaccination status or their support for the vaccine, with stickers such as "Vaccinated," "Vaxing Soon", "Immunity Together," and "Vaccines Save Lives."

Dating apps Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble and Hinge, have also rolled out similar features for users to display their vaccination status earlier this year, according to Today.

Use of stickers will not be verified by Tinder

The use of the "Vaccinated" sticker is entirely self-reported on Tinder, however.

Tinder said on its app that it is unable to verify one's actual vaccination status, and cannot guarantee whether its users will "transmit the Covid-19 virus".

Vaccinations a popular talking point among users

A Tinder spokesperson said that vaccinations have become a popular talking point among Singaporean users.

Mentions of the word "vaccine" in Tinder bios here peaked in June 2021, as Singapore's national vaccination programme accelerated, said the spokesperson.

The launch of vaccine stickers is part of Tinder's efforts to encourage its users to get vaccinated, Tinder said in its media release.

The in-app vaccine centre also links to the Ministry of Health's vaccination page, so that users can easily access vaccine information, or book vaccination appointments.
