Taiwanese airline STARLUX Airlines have recently announced the launching of their new flight route connecting Singapore and Taipei that will commence on September 23.

In their press release, STARLUX said they will operate 2 weekly flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, before increasing to 3 weekly flights with an additional flight on Saturday from October onwards.

According to their Facebook post, there will be Flatbed Business Class seats with about 82 inches of legroom and a 15.6-inch entertainment screen, and Economy Class seats with 31 inches of legroom and a 10.1-inch screen.

Passengers who book the route will also be flying in an Airbus A321neo, with cabin interior designed by BMW Group Designworks. 

A quick search on their website shows that tickets for an Economy-class round-trip will cost around S$530, whilst Business-class seats will set you back around S$2,400.

However, it is important to note that the Taiwanese government has yet to open their borders to foreign tourists.

MOH: relaxed measures for travellers from Taiwan

The news comes after Singapore recently announced relaxed measures for travellers entering from Taiwan.

In Ministry of Health's (MOH) statement, all travellers that have spent 21 days in Taiwan prior to entering Singapore will not be required to serve 14 days of Stay Home Notice (SHN), as long as they test negative for the Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test upon arrival.

Short-term visitors with travel history to Taiwan within the last 21 days can also apply for an Air Travel Pass to enter Singapore.

They will also be required to undergo a PCR test upon arrival and will not be required to serve 14 days of SHN as long as they test negative for Covid-19.

Taiwan yet to reopen to tourists

Taiwan recently reduced the epidemic alert to level 2, allowing dine-in at restaurants. With daily Covid-19 infection cases lower than 20 for the past week, the government has yet to announce plans to ease border control measures.

Taiwan Centers for Disease Control said in a statement that border restrictions remain in place, and foreigners are still not allowed to enter Taiwan as of now.
