Singapore sent Covid-19 assistance packages to Indonesia on Aug. 13.

The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) said in a Facebook post today that the Republic of Singapore Navy facilitated the transfer of the packages at Changi Naval Base.

Temasek Foundation International Chief Executive Benedict Cheong handed the packages to the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Singapore Suryo Pratomo.

Indonesian Navy's landing ship, KRI Teluk Bintuni, is in Singapore to help bring the packages to Indonesia, Mindef added.

Also present to witness the handover were Singapore's Navy Commander 9 Flotilla Colonel Leon Chua as well as the director for Changi Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (Changi RHCC) Colonel Melvin Tan.

Mindef said that since Changi RHCC was stood up on Jul. 14, 2021, it has been facilitating coordination to contribute to Covid-19 assistance efforts in the region.

This includes the delivery of assistance packages from SAF to the Indonesian Armed Forces earlier this week.

"We hope that the aid will go some way in Indonesia's efforts to fight Covid-19," Mindef said.

On Aug. 12, Indonesia recorded 24,709 new Covid-19 cases and 1,466 new deaths. In total, the country recorded 3,774,155 cases and 113,664 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
