It has been a wet Aug. 30 morning in Singapore with thundery showers across the island.
Here's a look at the rainfall situation at 11am since midnight, with a total of over 100mm rainfall recorded at Toa Payoh.
Earlier today, flash floods were reported by PUB at Hougang Ave 8 and Punggol Way slip road to TPE, but the agency has since provided an update saying that the floods have subsided.
The rain has brought some cool weather to Singapore as well.As of 10:42am, temperatures of 23°C to 24°C were recorded across the island, according to the Meteorological Service of Singapore (MSS).
Winds of 31.5km/h were recorded at Pasir Panjang as of 8:17am, according to MSS.
A low of 21.8°C was also recorded at Pasir Panjang at 6:17am.
The weather is forecast to be rainy with thundery showers across the island until the early afternoon.
Wet days were expected for the last two weeks of August as the monsoon rain band is expected to remain over the equatorial Southeast Asia region.
Overall, MSS said that the total rainfall for this month is forecast to be above average for most parts of Singapore.
Historical data
Historically, Augusts in Singapore are dry months with little to no rain, while minimum temperatures hovering anywhere between 24°C to 28.8°C.
In other words, the wet and cool weather this August 2021 is an anomaly.
