Last Saturday night (Aug. 28), some residents in Queenstown were pleasantly surprised by a small display of fireworks.
Here's a video of the fireworks, captured by @urbanplay.sg on Instagram.
The fireworks, however, were not an act of mischief.
Fireworks part of National Day celebrations
In fact, it is actually part of the National Day celebrations held at Queenstown.
According to a social media post by Queenstown MP Eric Chua, the short fireworks display happened in the neighbourhood of Jalan Rumah Tinggi.
It was part of Queenstown's National Day virtual celebration held via Zoom and Facebook Live on Aug. 28.
Prior to the event, notices were put up and notifications were sent via instant messaging platforms to notify the residents of the fireworks display.
Despite this, some residents still didn't expect the vibrant fireworks display.
In the post, Chua added: "Nonetheless, hope that everyone enjoyed the fireworks, which was really meant to uplift spirits and to encourage everyone to soldier on as we continue to fight the pandemic."
