The recent bouts of heavy rain has caused flash floods in various parts of Singapore, sparking more flood warnings to be issued.
On August 30, PUB shared a Facebook post warning the public of potential flash floods and rising water levels.
The water levels in drains and canals in certain areas have reached 90 per cent due to the heavy rain.
At 10:04am, PUB urged the public to avoid the following areas that have been issued flood warnings for the next hour:
- Siang Kuang Avenue (Unit 35)
- Balestier Road and Thomson Road
- Puay Hee Avenue and Siak Kew Avenue
- Sime Darby Centre
- Upper Paya Lebar Road
- Sungei Tongkang at Yio Chu Kang Road
- Happy Avenue North at Lamp Post 11
At 10:24am, they continued to share two more locations via Twitter -- Macpherson Rd and Playfair Rd.
In a subsequent Facebook update on the same day, PUB shared that they had deployed officers to render assistance to the following two locations that were experiencing flash floods:
- Hougang Avenue 8 (Issued 10:13am)
- Punggol Way slip road to TPE (Issued 10:13am)
According to PUB's Twitter update, one out of two lanes at Hougang Avenue 8 was affected, while one out of the three lanes at Punggol Way slip road was affected.
PUB updated the post at 10:40am to say that the flash floods have subsided at those two locations.

What are flash floods?
According to PUB, flash floods are episodes of localised flooding that typically subside within an hour.
They can happen during the monsoon season, and in the event of sudden heavy storms.
PUB has recorded five flash floods in this year alone, including two that happened just this month.
