Commuter who climbed onto tracks at Yio Chu Kang MRT brought to safety

Train services between Ang Mo Kio and Yishun stations in both directions were halted at about 1:55pm after a commuter climbed onto the tracks.

According to a post by SMRT, commuters on the platform activated the Emergency Stop Plunger and their staff immediately responded on site.

Traction power was turned off, and the police and SCDF were immediately activated.

At about 2:10pm, the police escorted her off the tracks.

Call for assistance

In response to Mothership's queries, the Police and SCDF confirmed that they received a call for assistance at Yio Chu Kang MRT station at about 1:55pm.

The police added that the commuter was subsequently brought to safety, and apprehended under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.

The police also said she was arrested for criminal trespass.

SCDF said that a paramedic had assessed the person, and she was ultimately not conveyed to the hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
