The race to find Malaysia's next prime minister ended with Ismail Sabri Yaakob being picked by the king as Muhyiddin's successor.
He was sworn in at the royal palace on Aug. 21 afternoon.
The road to finding the person to fill up the premiership vacuum was full of drama not just from the political front.
Malaysians have taken to the internet to express their feelings.
Several memes have popped up within a day showing the unhappiness of Malaysians about the whole situation as an Umno man has come back to the top job.
With Ismail Sabri's pick, some were not so keen about him being the next prime minister.

There were also memes and comments on Anwar Ibrahim who has been a prime minister hopeful since Mahathir was in power in the 1990s.
One includes an Umno parody account congratulating Anwar Ibrahim as the Malaysia's longest prime minister hopeful.

More importantly, with Ismail Sabri as Malaysia ninth prime minister, it would mean that Umno is now having an upper hand in Malaysian politics.
