An anti-masker in Indonesia shouted "Woo!", leaped off his chair, and attacked a judge as his sentence was read on Thursday (Aug. 19).

According to an Indonesian news agency, Detik, Yunus Wahyudi was sentenced to three years imprisonment for violating Indonesia's health quarantine law as well as the Electronic Transactions Act, at the district court in Banyuwangi, East Java.

When the panel of judges was reading his sentencing, Detik reported that Yunus was seen not wearing a mask and was occasionally smiling.

Right after the sentencing was read and the judge hit the gavel, Yunus jumped from his seat and attacked the head judge of the proceeding, Khamozaru Waruwu.

Security forces managed to pin him down and escorted him out of the courtroom to be transported to Banyuwangi prison.

The judge was not hurt in the attack but he was shocked by the assault, Suara reported.

It was unclear whether the assault was planned.

Anti-mask supporters, fellow conspiracy theorists triggered him

Speaking to Detik, Yunus's lawyer, Mohammad Sugiyono said that the sudden and unanticipated attack was triggered by Yunus's supporters.

During the sentencing, Sugiyono said that Yunus's supporters were chanting and shouting in support of him outside the courtroom.

One of his supporters was heard to be shouting "I am a supporter of the law."

Believed Covid-19 was a hoax

In October 2020, Merdeka reported that Yunus was seen to be debating with a medical worker that Covid-19 is a hoax and was fabricated by the government.

According to media reports, he was also spreading hoaxes and conspiracy theories through social media pages.

He was also believed to be involved in bodysnatching a deceased Covid-19 patient from a hospital.
